TECHNICAL NOTES BY 洧師傅

What does the anti-sweat switch on a commercial refrigerator do?

The switch powers a small heater around a door frame or glass area to reduce surface condensation in humid conditions. It does not repair failed cooling or fogging inside insulated glass.

Quick action guide

Applies to

Commercial glass-door and some stainless-steel cabinets with an anti-sweat switch.

Safe checks

Check whether moisture is outside the glass, around the frame or trapped inside insulated glass.

Stop the equipment

Stop if the switch, wiring or frame smells burnt or becomes abnormally hot.

Request service

Call when condensation persists with good door sealing, the heater does not work, or moisture is inside the glass unit.

How to use the switch

Humid conditions

Use it when the manual permits and external condensation appears during humid weather.

Energy use

The heater consumes power, so follow the equipment instructions rather than leaving it on without need.

Other causes

Door-gasket leakage, high room humidity and failed glass seals require different solutions.

Common questions

Does the switch make the cabinet colder?

No. It reduces condensation around the frame or glass.

Can it fix fog inside double glass?

No. Moisture inside insulated glass usually means the sealed glass unit has failed.

Why is the frame warm?

A mild warmth may be normal when the anti-sweat heater operates, but abnormal heat or smell needs inspection.
