Is the compressor failing? Listen, feel and record the symptoms
Sound and temperature can reveal a warning sign, but they cannot confirm compressor condition by themselves. A technician may still need current, pressure and temperature measurements.

Common warning patterns
Clicking and repeated restart
A protection device may be cycling because of voltage, starting components, overheating or compressor load.
Runs but temperature rises
The cause may be compressor wear, refrigerant leakage, airflow restriction or another system fault.
Unusual vibration or metallic sound
Check mounting and pipe contact, but severe internal sound requires service.
Common questions
Is a hot compressor always broken?
No. Compressors run hot, but extreme heat with poor cooling or repeated protection trips needs inspection.
Can sound alone confirm failure?
No. Electrical, pressure and temperature tests are required.
Should I keep restarting it?
No. Repeated restarting can add stress and erase useful fault evidence.
